Hawkwind
The Time of The Hawklords (reissue) written by Michael Butterworth
Review by Gary Hill
Long out of print, this book has recently been reissued. That is reason for Hawkwind fans to rejoice. The book is a science-fiction tale that features fictionalized versions of the Stacia/Lemmy Hawkwind lineup. The basic premise, without giving away too much of the tale is that an evil group of people are trying to rid the world of the good people. The only force that can stand in their way is Hawkwind. The music of the band becomes a weapon against the evil ones and a source of comfort for the good.
The book really only stacks up so well. The story is a bit too comic book oriented at times, and just a little silly in places. However, for true Hawkfans, this tale, part sci-fi part fantasy, is all enjoyment. This predates the Kiss comic books, and most likely makes Hawkwind the first rock band superheroes. If you are a die-hard fan of the band, strike while this is still back in print because you never know how long that will last.
