Perfect Chaos

Review by Gary Hill

Based in a female singer songwriter rock sound, this is quite a good album. Nothing here is earth-shattering or exceedingly original, but it’s all strong.

This review is available in book format (hardcover and paperback) in Music Street Journal: 2010  Volume 1 at lulu.com/strangesound.

She's Not Talking to You

Based in a female singer songwriter rock sound, this is quite a good album. Nothing here is earth-shattering or exceedingly original, but it’s all strong.

I Never Know
More of a modern sound pervades this number. It’s a fairly straightahead rocker that’s quite cool. It’s also rather understated at the same time, though.
Paper Tiger
A cool rocker, this is catchy and quite pop oriented.
Broken Bridge
This doesn’t vary much from a lot of the material here, but it’s good nonetheless.
Fallen World
Violin as a real part of the melody makes this one different from the rest. It’s a step up in terms of class and how well it works and I like this a lot. It’s definitely a highlight of the set.
Ghost in My Soul
More bluesy, there’s some killer guitar soloing over the top of a lot of this number.
Actress
This rocks out more than a lot of the material on the set. It’s another strong tune, but not really a standout.
Picture in a Drawer
Dramatic and evocative, I like this a lot. It’s a killer with a classic hard rock sound and it’s probably my favorite number here.
Perfect Chaos
An acoustic ballad, this reminds me of “Angie” by the Rolling Stones at times. It gets more intense later and is another highlight.
Yours to Say
A folky acoustic number, this is even mellower than the one that came before it.
Killingsworth Street
This is sort of a ballad turned rocker. It’s good, but not exceptional.
How It's Going to Be
This is another mellow ballad. It’s an acoustic number and good, but perhaps a bit low-key for a disc closer.
