Corvus Stone

You're So Wrong (Digital Single)

Review by Larry Toering

Being new to Corvus Stone, all I can say is they're a breath of fresh air to me. This band actually came together through chance meetings on Facebook, but that might be common knowledge by now, it's all I really know, so far. The sheer amount of variety in their sound is amazing, as they cultivate just about all flavors of the musical spectrum. They tend to span everything from jazz fusion guitar pieces to outright epic storytelling prog, and all this can be comprehensively detected in just one or two tracks to my ears. This single is one awesome piece of work itself, and I happen to be enthralled with its beauty.

This review is available in book format (hardcover and paperback) in Music Street Journal: 2012  Volume 6 at lulu.com/strangesound.

Track by Track Review
You're So Wrong

From the lovely soothing piano intro that begins the eloquent number with a feather light approach that instantly grabs the listener and takes them into a majestic chorus of classic familiarity (like some kind of recurring dream), this is massively delicate yet so commanding. There is so much to be felt here it's immediately urgent to explore more of this band. It's great to finally hear something that moves me, and this is one thing that does. I'm instantly attracted to them through this single, and can't wait to delve into all that is Corvus Stone. This is truly magnificent!

(Editor's Note - Music Street Journal is set up for the allocation of albums, not singles - particularly not one-song singles. So, in the instances, like this one, where we've covered single song releases, we've had to make some adaptations for formatting. In the case of this one, just imagine both track review and overall review reading as one set of copy. )
