Concrete Blonde

Rosalie/I See the Ghost (white vinyl 7” single)

Review by Gary Hill

Released on white vinyl, this single has a couple brand new tunes from Concrete Blonde. I’ve always liked that band a lot and the two numbers here represent the two sides of that act. As such, I like this a lot, too. It’s highly recommended to anyone who has ever enjoyed Concrete Blonde and it bodes well for the upcoming tour. I have to say, I’ve seen the band live and they put on a good show.

This review is available in book format (hardcover and paperback) in Music Street Journal: 2012  Volume 6 at lulu.com/strangesound.

Track by Track Review
Rosalie

Slow moving and rather ballad-like, this tune is a tasty one. It’s definite got a classic Concrete Blonde vibe to it.

I See The Ghost

Feeling almost like a live recording, this thing is frantic and very cool. Somehow it reminds me of some of the punkier music from Hawkwind. It is a great contrast the other side of the set and manages to showcase the two sides of the musical personality that is Concrete Blonde. The vocals are essentially spoken. There’s a tasty noise guitar solo later in the track.
