Hawkwind

Back on the Streets / The Dream of Isis single (vinyl)

Review by Gary Hill

The old rule at Music Street Journal was that we didn’t review out of print items. Well, with Amazon and eBay both standing as good sources for a lot of rarities (often at good prices) that rule seems obsolete. With that in mind, I’m going through and doing retro reviews on some of the rarities I’ve got around here. This seven inch single is one of those. Since I reviewed the Side A track when it appeared on the Epoch Eclipse box set, that track review is included here for consistency. Let’s just say that I’m glad I have this record and I’d buy it again given the chance.

This review is available in book format (hardcover and paperback) in Music Street Journal: 2014  Volume 2 at lulu.com/strangesound.

Track by Track Review
Side One
Back on the Streets

This is simply a straightforward Hawkwind rocker.

Side Two
The Dream of Isis
This builds out gradually and has a lot of the trademark Hawkwind tribal type chanting.
