Confession EP

Review by Gary Hill

This is an electronic music EP and most of it is quite strong. There are three versions of the opening track and two of them are great. The rest of the songs are also effective, with the exception of the closer that just feels like an afterthought to me. Most of the vocals here are female and extremely strong. That’s what helps to make this work so well.

Track by Track Review
Confession - Single-Mix

This opens with a lush synthetic sound. The cut gets more of a dance music energy and the vocals that come across are classy. This is great stuff, really. I like the spoken parts and the singing is great, too. There are some space music bits of sound over the top, too.

Hero To A Fool
Starting with blips and bleeps all over the mix, this feels like Kraftwerk at first. When the soulful vocals join, though, it’s a whole different world. This is another extremely effective tune that combines a solid vocal performance with some great electronic dance music.
Confession - 1st in 14 Mix
This remix of the first cut feels more cinematic and trippy to me. I think I might like this even better than that first version, but they are both quite good.
And Sometimes
This is crazy cool. It’s got almost a dark, mysterious sound to it. The vocals reinforce that concept. It’s mellower and slower than anything else here. It’s also got a lot more magic built into it. This one is worth the price of admission all by itself.
Confession - Inspired By F.P. Mix
This remix feels even more electronic than the last one. I don’t think it’s as effective as either other version, though. It’s still good, but definitely the weakest of the three.
A Bright Room
A very electronic sounding piece, this is solid, but not one of my favorites. In fact, it feels a bit like a throwaway to me.
