Orgy

Talk Sick

Review by Gary Hill

Mix Duran Duran with Marilyn Manson and you are pretty close to what you get here. This latest EP from Orgy is energetic and entertaining. I’d have to say that I land in the “like it a lot” category. There isn’t a lot of variety from song to song, but it’s strong enough to make it through the whole EP without ever feeling redundant.

This review is available in book format (hardcover and paperback) in Music Street Journal: 2015  Volume 5 at lulu.com/strangesound.

Track by Track Review
Talk Sick

Electronic and techno, this is high energy. It’s also quite catchy. The darkness is tempered by a dance music kind of element. It’s a great way to start things.

Spells
This isn’t as dark. The dance vibe isn’t as present, either. It’s high energy and rocking, though.
Suck It
The groove to this one is meaty and mean. I like this killer cut quite a bit.
Come Back
Energized and angry, this is great stuff. It does get a parental advisory.
Wide Awake and Dead
Fast paced electronic dance oriented music, this still has a real edgy element to it. It’s not as dark or angry as some of the rest, though.
G Face
Although it starts with a more stripped back arrangement, this powers out into one of the most metallic and hard edged jams of the disc. It seems catchier than some of the rest. The drop back segment is haunting, too.
Monster in Me
This isn’t a big change, but it’s effective. It does get a parental advisory.
