Every Little Spirit

Review by Gary Hill
The music here lands in the neighborhood of world music based folk prog. I like this set quite a bit. It's perhaps more psychedelic than prog, but I think the classification fits. Some of the vocals are sung. Some of them are spoken. Some of the sung vocals are Western styled ones while others land in the territory of world music. This is a compelling and intriguing disc start to finish.

Track by Track Review
Strung Deep

There is a cool Beatles like element at play on this song. The female world music vocals bring an intriguing angle. That represents on piece of the world music that's on show here. All in all, this links together to create a real folk prog kind of vibe.

Loving Kind
Psychedelically tinged sound drive this. This is again a folk prog styled piece of music.
No Time
The world music elements dancing around this are very tasty. Yet this is very much a progressive piece, although there is not much that would qualify s "rock" here.
Get Set Free
The mix of psychedelia and world music continues here. This probably best qualifies as folk prog. It is a rather unusual but compelling piece of music.
Loving Kind (Extended), Pt. I
This version of over thirteen minutes in length. It makes up that length with a lot of intriguing world music jamming.
Loving Kind (Extended), Pt. II
A bit less than seven minutes in length, this movement almost seems more exploratory. It has some exceptional musical moments and cool world music in the mix.
Sitting on a Cloud
This is the longest track here at nearly seventeen minutes in length. It's the kind of thing you'd expect. It also has some of the best jamming of the whole disc in a lot of ways. There are some intriguing shifts and turns on this.
Nothing More Than This
Arguably the most accessible thing here, this makes for a great closer.
