A lot of times electronic music is strictly keyboard based. This set makes good use of guitar, too. There is a nice groove to the music here. There no vocals (other than a bit of sampling) on the disc, but that allows the instruments to really shine. This is varied and always interesting.
Sanctified This makes me think of electronic version of Parliament. It's funky, jazzy and so cool. It's a great groove. I love the funk guitar sounds on this.
Saint James A shorter cut, this has a driving beat, but is more of a rock song than a funk piece. It's still strong, just not as effective as the previous one. I can make out some hints of Santana here.
The Sacrifice The guitar on here is pretty cool. The keyboard sounds leading it later are equally interesting. This is energized and meaty. It's a driving number. There are some things here that make me think of Herbie Hancock's electronic period, too.
From the Ashes Another piece with a lot of energy, there is a bit of a noisy texture to a lot of the electronic sounds on this. It's a mean and quite compelling cut. There is a bit of a sampled voice on this cut. It works through some territory that's almost proggy at times.
Party to Damascus I like this a lot. It has some great melodic elements. The guitar work is tasty, but works to serve the piece rather than the other way around most of the time. There are some world music elements at play in terms of some of the melodies here.
