Michael Bruner Don't Mean Broken (digital single) Review by Gary Hill The new single from Michael Bruner, this is an entertaining and intriguing piece. It is likely to pique listeners' interest enough to make them dig into Bruner's catalog a bit. Beyond simply entertaining, isn't that the point of a single? This is fresh, but has a lot of retro texture built into it. That, along with the mainstream vibe, should make this appeal to a wide range of music fans. Track by Track Review

Don't Mean Broken Intricate acoustic guitar work starts this cut. The vocals come in over the top of that. After the first verse the rest of the instruments join. When they do so the cut starts to take on a definite reggae vibe. This has plenty of alternative pop rock in the mix, too, though. It's essentially an acoustic number, but it manages to rock and groove well. I dig the electric guitar fills later. As the arrangement gets a bit more echoey and powered up it takes on more traditional reggae qualities.
