Les Techno

Guilty Pleasure (digital single)

Review by Gary Hill

Here we have a new single from Les Techno. His style of music is always hard to pin down, and this cut is no exception to that rule. There are a lot of differing references points. It's both modern and retro, too.

This review is available in book (paperback and hardcover) in Music Street Journal: 2019  Volume 3. More information and purchase links can be found at: garyhillauthor.com/Music-Street-Journal-2019.

Track by Track Review
Guilty Pleasure

There is a cool funk guitar vibe at the core of this number. It has a lot of 80s new wave and punk textures. Yet there are electronic space elements that land things closer to EDM in some ways. I can even make out hints of stuff like The Clash at times, though. All in all, this is quite an intriguing tune with a style that's hard to pin down. It's a cool entry in the catalog of an interesting artist.
