Love Ghost (digital single)

Review by Gary Hill

So much modern music is overproduced to the point of feeling "fake." I doubt anyone will accuse this song of that. The production level seems just about the right level to please just about everyone. There is also a nice balance between rapped vocals (with a British accent that lends something special to a rap) and sung ones. There is so much class to this thing. Sure, it can do well in the dance club, but you will also enjoy it in your home. This is how pop music should be done.

This review is available in book (paperback and hardcover) in Music Street Journal: 2019  Volume 3. More information and purchase links can be found at: garyhillauthor.com/Music-Street-Journal-2019.

Track by Track Review
Love Ghost (featuring Alonestar - Tryzdin)
Some lush electronics open this cut. A female voice whispers the title. The cut moves out from for a rap. As the sung vocals join later, this has some powerful soulful vocals. I like much about the instrumental mix here. That includes the bass line, the guitar fills and the cool keyboard textures. This piece has so much meat built into it. It's catchy and well-suited for the dance floor. Yet there is still some space rock and more in the mix. They take this through some great territory, and the whispered voice returns at the end.
