Happy Freuds

Why (digital single)

This new single from Happy Freuds is quite strong. I previously reviewed an album from the act and noted how it seemed to combine folk music, alternative rock and more. This song is more along the lines of the folk end of the spectrum. It has some killer rocking guitar later in the tune, though. This is very effective and classy.

Why
A slow-moving folk music texture opens this piece. The cut works out from there reminding me just a bit of Bob Dylan. Then again, I prefer the vocals here to Dylan by a long shot. The lyrics are poignant. Past the half-way mark (the cut is almost five-and-a-half minutes long), electric guitar drives in for some killer stabs of soloing. The piece really intensifies from there, taking on a real rock kind of vibe as it does.
