Shadow Lady (digital single)

Review by Gary Hill

A multi-continental band, RSC (at least on this tune) ply a form of heavy metal that's well rooted in classic hard rock. These guys would have been at home doing music like this in previous eras. While there is a bit of a modern edge in some small ways, overall this is old school metal. I suppose that makes sense because an early version of the band was literally named "OLDSCHOOL." This is quite a potent single, leaving the listener wanting to here more. Well, at least that's what it did for this listener.

Track by Track Review
Shadow Lady
A pounding percussive element opens this cut. Keyboards climb in from there. That holds the track for a time before a hard-edged guitar sound joins. Clean vocals with a decidedly AOR approach give us the title. The cut works to a driving, classic rock turned metal riff based structure. Some more traditional hard rock metal vocals come in over the top of that mix to complete the picture. This is driving, catchy and so tasty. It's a killer tune with equal parts compelling hard rock and heavy metal. There are some decidedly tasty guitar bits here, and the solo is just about perfect for the tune.
