Grapefruit Sound Lab

and Amuka - Love Cards (digital single)

Review by Gary Hill
I've gotten a whole series of singles from Grapefruit Sound Lab. They cover quite a bit of musical territory. The one thing they all have in common is quality. With that in mind, it is therefore noteworthy when I say that this is one of the best of them. Yes, it's that strong.

This review is available in book (paperback and hardcover) form in Music Street Journal: 2020  Volume 5. More information and purchase links can be found at: garyhillauthor.com/Music-Street-Journal-2020.
Track by Track Review
Love Cards
A cool synthesizer sound brings this into being. A powerful vocal line enters. The tune works out into a smoking groove from there. The vocals are masterful and soulful and so classy. The tune has a killer funky vibe and some real class. The overall effect is a powerhouse modern pop texture. with plenty of retro stylings in the mix. This is very effective. It's very meaty.
