Papa Roach

Live in Rockford, Illinois - September, 2011

Review by Kat and Mike Heitzman

As soon as these guys took the stage, it was apparent they had a lot of energy. The singer, Jacoby Shaddix, was jumping and thrashing all over the stage and did not stay still for one second. They blazed through the songs with ease, and the sound was perfect for a festival type show.

This was the point of the night when the crowd really got rowdy. The sound system was finally kicking hard. You can tell when seasoned professionals get on stage, and this was one of those times. This was the kickoff party for our “On the Waterfront” festival in Rockford. The other bands playing that evening with Papa Roach were mediocre at best. A few of them could not even sing half of their songs and relied heavily on the crowd doing their job. I won't mention who the terrible bands were, but it was no kickoff, that was for sure.

They ended their set with the radio played favorite, “Last Resort” for which, of course, everyone was waiting. Every song rocked from start to finish, but this was the climax, that is for sure. It was such a joy to see a heavy rock band staying true to their rock ways, yet they still produced a very high quality sound where the other bands this evening did not.
