Guns N' Roses

2 Classic Albums Under Review: Use Your Illusion I and II DVD

Review by Gary Hill

Guns N’ Roses were the bad boy rock band to beat in the 1980’s. Incredibly influential, they were the latter day extension of the Rolling Stones and Aerosmith. As much as they’ve become a joke these days (what’s it been ten years now that we’ve gotten the annual press release saying that Chinese Democracy is coming this year?), it’s easy to forget just how vital and talented these guys were. Well, this documentary is here to remind us what GNR really were. With all kinds of cool commentary and footage the DVD goes into extensive detail about those two albums. For my money, they were the artistic apex of the band – and are purely incredible CD’s. It’s good to have such a powerful look back at those wonderful releases. You’ll find yourself digging the discs out to spin them all over again. While we’re waiting for Chinese Democracy, this is just what the Dr. ordered.
