Video Anthology 2 - 1990's DVD

Those expecting to find Yes or King Crimson amidst this DVD will come away with out completing their quest. On the other hand, those looking for some stellar jazz performed by an incredible group of musicians will be rewarded with a great piece of music and video entertainment. It should come as no surprise that Bill Bruford (who is the mastermind of this outfit) has performed percussion duties in both of those aforementioned prog rock bands. It’s just that his true passion has always been jazz and Earthworks has been his outlet for the most pure explorations in that direction that he’s undertaken.
This is a companion to the Video Anthology – 2000’s. While one might anticipate that (given the title) it would be a collection of music videos, such is not the case. Instead this features a series of live performances from the group that were all filmed in the 1990’s – clever title indeed! The videography is top-notch and the sound is great, too. As good as they are, though, the music is even better. Bill Bruford is without question one of the best and most innovative percussionists of all time. It should come as no surprise that he surrounds himself with similarly talented individuals. The group of them work together to create a sound that combines old school jazz with newer sounds in a mix that never fails to entertain. This is just about as good as it gets.
