House of Yes Live DVD

Review by Gary Hill

This DVD is a pretty darn good live show collection. The picture and sound quality are awesome and it includes lots of great bonuses. The DVD is not without flaws, though, so perhaps those should be gotten out of the way first, since there aren't many. At times this video feels as if the audio soundtrack has been redone just a bit, i.e. a little overproduced in the studio. Also, the lineup is not among the most classic of the group, but it is pretty close - Jon Anderson, Steve Howe, Igor Khoroshev, Billy Sherwood, Chris Squire and Alan White. Now we get to the rest of the upside. The band performs a lot of great numbers, including a few tracks from The Ladder. Among the aforementioned bonuses are a virtual tour program, interviews with the band and a video of "Homeworld", the epic from The Ladder. The visual on that one is footage from the video game of the same name, and the combination works very well. This one is quite probably the best Yes concert video to date.
