Bob Dylan is one of a small group of artists who have been written about and documented so much that it seems like there can't be much out there that hasn't been covered. Well, it's a tribute to the strength of this documentary that it covers new ground. It does so by focusing on one period of Dylan's career and turning a bright light of musical analysis on his artistic output. This thing delves into levels of the music that are generally left untouched. The end result is a DVD that will probably please even the most demanding Bob Dylan fan. It will also be entertaining and insightful for more casual fans. Either way, this is a great documentary.
