Jamaican Gold DVD

Review by Gary Hill

When you watch this film it would be easy to think that it takes place in Jamaica. The truth is, it doesn’t. No, Jamaican Gold is a reggae club in California and this film captures the spirit and heart of that club. Not quite a documentary, not quite a concert film, this is a little of both. We get interview clips, performances and more filmed over the course of about a year. There are performances by Damian Marley, Beenie Man, Lady Saw, Elephant Man, Baby Cham and Spragga Benz. Plus we get interview clips, lots of events and just about everything you can think of to make you feel like part of the scene. This may be California, but it really feels like the tropical Island of Jamaica. Pop it in, kick back and enjoy. It’s a cool ride, mahn.
