Diana Krall

Live in Rio DVD

Review by Gary Hill

I suppose a big part of how you feel about this DVD is about how you feel about Diana Krall. Certainly her smooth and sultry form of jazz isn’t for every one. Personally I find that at times it can be a bit too sedate and restrained. With that set aside, though, this is really a great concert and the videography is excellent. Don’t expect anything fiery or explosive here. This is all about the relaxation and the groove. That said, everyone here performs admirably. In terms of bonus material there’s a music video and an interview.

This review is available in book format (hardcover and paperback) in Music Street Journal: 2009  Volume 3 at lulu.com/strangesound.
