B. B. King Live at Montreux 1993 DVD Review by Gary Hill I caught B. B. King live once, and I think it was about the same time as this show. I remember standing outside in the pouring rain to watch the King of the Blues hand out his musical magic. Soaked to the bones, I never regretted it. The man makes music like no other and the show was great.
Well, now I can see him live without the water. This is a jazzier treatment than I remember seeing, though. It’s no less essential. B. B. King is one of the true masters and I’d recommend this to anyone who has ever enjoyed his music. The sound is crisp and clear and so is the video. You tend to expect that of this series, though.
I suppose if you want to look for something to complain about you could point to the lack of bonus materials. When the concert is this strong, though – I really don’t feel like complaining. This is a great representation of the man and well worth the price of admission. B. B. King is an innovator and an entertainer with few equals.
