London, England was certainly an epicenter of punk rock. For that reason this documentary really is important and interesting. At times it can seem to wander a bit and be a little boring, but overall it’s quite strong. There’s a lot of great live clips and rare old footage that would make it all worthwhile even without the documentary around it.
The first part of the bonus footage, though, makes this an even more “must have” item. What you get is a full Clash concert – the same one from which footage shows up in the documentary. The video and audio on this are actually considerably better than one would expect from a lot of punk video (especially from that time period). Without question this featurette by itself is worth the price of admission. You can look at the documentary as the bonus and still be happy.
