No-Man

Mixtaped DVD

Review by Gary Hill

I have to say that I’ve liked the CD’s released by No-Man, but they just don’t do justice to this outfit. It’s quite obvious from watching this DVD that this band really comes to life in the live venue. The music here is incredible. It’s got some wide dynamic and range and is purely killer progressive rock. Everyone (Steve Wilson included) does an incredible job.  The concert is shot in a great way, making this an excellent visual and audio document of No-Man live. I have to say that I will now be anxiously awaiting an opportunity to see this group. The second DVD is a career spanning documentary that’s a great addition, but really, with the main feature as strong as this, that’s just icing on the cake. I highly recommend this to anyone who likes new progressive rock. If you’ve not caught No-Man before in any form, this is a “must buy” first look. Beware, though, that once you’ve seen this the CD’s, good as they are, will pale in comparison.
