Kate Bush
A Life Of Surprises DVD
Review by Gary Hill
The problem with unauthorized documentaries is you never really get a lot of real material (be it interview or performance) with the artist. Such is the main issue here. There are snippets here and there, but the main thing, and this is typical of this type of documentary, is interviews with people on the periphery of Bush’s life and people who can bring insights in the technical aspects of her work. That said, those looking for a quick education into Bush, will learn some things with this two DVD set. That is, of course, if they don’t already own it. The content here was released before as two individual DVDs, "Kate Bush: Under review" and "Hounds of Love: A Classsic Album under Review.” If you’ve already got those two discs, you don’t need this. If you never picked them up, this is a nice way to get both at once.
