Welcome to another unauthorized documentary. This one is really better than a lot of them. For one thing, they manage to use some actual clips of Dylan. The cast of “talking heads” is superior to many of the type of people seen in these things, too. All work together to create a superior documentary. Yes, this is unauthorized, and certainly not perfect, but it stands taller than a lot of its competition. One oddity is the fact that the title, according to the film itself is actually Bob Dylan Under Review 1990-2008. While that different title carries a little bit of confusion compared to the title on the box, it also adds credibility. The “Under Review” series tend to be better documentaries for precisely the reasons mentioned earlier in this review. So, it makes sense that this is from that series.
