Cream
Live at the Royal Albert Hall 2005 BluRay
Review by Gary Hill
I remember when I first heard about the Cream reunion I really wished I could have made the shows. I mean, I’ve been pretty vocal about the fact that I think Eric Clapton in his solo career has been very over-rated. But, in Cream the man was on fire. Add in Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker and you have the quintessential power-trio. They were certainly a big inspiration for such musical styles and jam band music and heavy metal. Beyond that, though, they just plain rocked.
Well, this concert video shows that the men have aged but can still rock. For me the one real downside was the vocals. It seems time has changed Jack Bruce’s and Eric Clapton’s voices making their deliveries on key and good, but different enough to change the songs a bit. Still, that’s a minor complaint as they make their way through a bunch of smoking hot Cream music. The video and audio quality are both great and this thing comes highly recommended.
