The Raconteurs

Live at Montreux 2008 BluRay

Review by Gary Hill

This concert video is great in terms of the technical stuff, like sound and video. How you really feel about it, though, will depend on how you feel about the performance. I don’t think I get the whole sound of this group. It’s almost like a more jam band, meets hard edged prog take on the sound Jack White created with The White Stripes. It just doesn’t work for me. Of course, I’ve always wanted to like The White Stripes, but never really “got” them either. It’s a safe bet that if you are a fan of that kind of music, you’ll love this.

This review is available in book format (hardcover and paperback) in Music Street Journal: 2012  Volume 4 at lulu.com/strangesound.
