Patti Smith is clearly not for everyone, and for most of the people who like her, she was an acquired taste. I’ve always felt that she was a real artist. Sure, she’s often off-key, but her songwriting and artistic angles are just so good that it doesn’t really matter. Besides, she seems to perform with a real passion and conviction. She's often lumped into punk rock, but she's so much more. In so many ways, I've always thought she was more closely tied to the truly artistic music of the late 1960s. So, I was definitely anxious to check out this live BluRay. It did not disappoint. The selection of songs was great, although I found myself wishing for “Gloria” and given there were a couple covers her version of “So You Want to Be a Rock 'n' Roll Star,” which I’ve always liked. The sound is great, the video is great and the performance is great. Really, you can’t ask for more than that. If you are a Patti Smith fan, pick this up as soon as you can. You’ll love it.
