Michael Schenker

Temple Of Rock: Live In Europe DVD

Review by Gary Hill

I’ve reviewed the CD version of this in this same issue of Music Street Journal. For much of the detailed review of the audio of the show, please see that review. The long and short of it? Michael Schenker is an awesome guitarist and on-fire here. We get a number of songs with the Scorpions rhythm section – that’s a bonus. The mix of sounds includes MSG along with Scorpions and UFO songs. The only real problem here are the vocals which are often off-key. So, let’s look at the video itself. There are two shows here. The indoor show (the bulk of the video) is a bit dark and suffers just a little from that. The outdoor show, for that reason is better. Whatever you think, though, this does come highly recommended. It’s a great live show and features some awesome playing.

This review is available in book format (hardcover and paperback) in Music Street Journal: 2013  Volume 2 at lulu.com/strangesound.
