Duane Allman

Song Of The South: Duane Allman And The Rise Of The Allman Brothers DVD

Review by Gary Hill

This is very classy. Duane Allman died young, and really at the time when his career was truly starting to gel. That’s tragic. This DVD really delves into his life and his career. There are many interviews and pieces of archival footage presented to make it more than just a story being told. This is captivating and compelling. It’s highly recommended to all fans of Allman, The Allman Brothers and southern rock. I’d go so far as to say that this is really recommended to any fans of classic rock music. Duane Allman was a real musical treasure and it’s great that we’ve got such a quality documentary about him now.

This review is available in book format (hardcover and paperback) in Music Street Journal: 2013  Volume 5 at lulu.com/strangesound.
