I can still remember when the Perfect Strangers album was released. I was working in a record store at the time and we opened a copy of the vinyl for store play and I was instantly hooked. I had been a pretty big fan of Deep Purple in the 1970s and as far as I was concerned it was classic Purple, but brought into the modern (at the time) era. I still stand by that assessment of the disc. It’s one of the band’s better albums. So, with that in mind, I was really looking forward to this DVD. It does not disappoint. Sure the sound and picture aren’t up to modern standards because the technology of the day wasn’t what it is now. However, this was filmed with pro-equipment at the time, so it’s still pretty good. As one might imagine, there are quite a few songs from Perfect Strangers included in the show. So, I suppose how you feel about that disc might have something to do with how you feel about this DVD. In any event, I’d consider it highly recommended to Deep Purple fans. In addition to the main feature, this includes a documentary about the tour.
