All the Labor: The Story of the Gourds DVD

Review by Gary Hill

The title here is appropriate because watching this documentary it’s obvious these guys work hard. They also are very talented. There is a lot of country, Americana and rock and roll built into their sound. This documentary includes interviews, live footage and much more to tell the story of the act. I’d bet they are much more of a household name in their native Texas than in the rest of the country. I’m also willing to bet that a band this good and this hard working have a fervent group of fans throughout the world. This documentary comes highly recommended to fans of the group. It’s also recommended as an introduction to a classy batch of musicians.

This review is available in book format (hardcover and paperback) in Music Street Journal: 2013  Volume 6 at lulu.com/strangesound.
