Queen

A Night at the Odeon DVD

Review by Gary Hill

I’d have to say that my favorite era of Queen is the earlier era. Once they started moving away from the proggy hard rock, they kind of lost me a bit. That makes the show captured here even better. I like the entire main concert. It’s a bit on the short side, but rocks quite well. It’s good to see these guys in their prime. They really did have the whole hard rock show thing down better than just about anyone. Sure, the sound here isn’t up to modern standards, but it’s very good. I can’t complain about the picture either. A bonus documentary includes new interviews with Brian May and Roger Taylor.  There is also a three song concert video from Japan included as a bonus. That’s not nearly as good as the main feature, but it is a bonus. If you like early Queen, I recommend this highly. I am so glad to have it.
