Too often when you get a documentary like this, it will be unauthorized. That means that you don’t really get the inside story because it all comes from people in the periphery. Rest assured, that’s not the case here. Not only is this authorized, but the main narrator is Steve Hackett himself. For those who don’t know (and how can you not, really) Hackett was the guitarist for a lot of the classic Genesis albums. He left the band right before the And Then There Were Three…album, which (as the title suggests) left them as a three-piece.

Even when it’s not Hackett himself taking us through the story of his life and his music, it’s his family members or collaborators. This documentary tells the story of Hackett from his childhood all the way to his album Wolf Light. It clocks in at all almost two and a half hours, making it comprehensive. For my money, Steve Hackett is one of the most talented guys out there. This video really gives you a great look inside his life and his art. It’s highly recommended.
