Joe Bonamassa

Live At The Greek Theatre DVD

Review by Gary Hill

I previously reviewed the audio set of this concert. As good as that was (and it was very good), this is so much better. The performance really comes alive in this video. It's about as close as you can get to the actual live experience without being there. The audio and video are both great. The whole band look seems like something out of the 40s, fitting with the music. The band is purely on fire, and this is just so cool! People always talk about Bonamassa's skill as a guitarist (and that's very deserving), but he can also sing like an old-school bluesman. This includes a second disc of bonus features. I really love the part based on interviews with Bonamassa's parents. Since he got his start professionally when he was still a kid, they really manage to shine an interesting light on his intriguing story.
