Deep Purple

From Here to inFinite BluRay

Review by Larry Toering

This is an upgrade to the movie that came with Deep Purple's latest album, for which they just released a Gold Edition. I’m not always a fan of these editions but this is an improvement even if some fans are complaining that it’s not available on DVD. It’s acceptable to me that both formats get a shot here, even though my Blu-Ray player isn’t part of the hi-fi on my system. It’s still worth it to get the bonus material this release is packing.   You get the movie first of all, which takes you through the band’s latest album recording process, from the writing sessions to the Tracking Room in Nashville with Bob Ezrin. That alone is worth the price of admission on a Blu-Ray upgrade, but the bonus features top it off so well.

You get Audio Commentary by Deep Purple and Live at Hellfest 2017 video tracks: "Time for Bedlam," "Birds of Prey" and "Smoke on the Water.” This also includes outtakes from From Here to infinite, full Interview with Joe Satriani, Corky - The Recording Engineer, Official Music Videos of Infinite albums tracks: "The Surprising," "Johnny's Band" and "All I Got Is You.” They aren't done there, though. Other features include About inFinite: Interviews, About the Album, Beyond the Album, Track by track, Rapid Fire interview and Behind the Scenes photo shoot. That’s a whole lot more than just a format upgrade on this release, another one of which Deep Purple have pumped out with their label backing them all the way as they go out in style. What’s next, who knows but the future’s uncertain and the end is always near for this band.
