Black Sabbath

The End BluRay/CD

Review by Gary Hill

I have to admit to being a huge Black Sabbath fan. I've seen them live quite a few times. They are one of my favorite bands. I'm sad that they are not going to be doing music anymore, but that fact is easier to take with this amazing release.

I didn't get to see them on the final tour. Watching this video almost made me feel like I did. They put on an amazing show. They played a number of cuts I've never heard them do live before, too. Unlike the Last Supper video, this BluRay isn't cut up with interview bits. We get the incredible concert beginning to end with no interruption.

There is also a bonus CD here. That CD includes some songs that are band favorites recorded live in the studio. These are songs they didn't do in the concert. That said, there is also a video bonus of them recording all these songs.

The fact is, if you like Black Sabbath, you must own this. It's a piece of music history even if you aren't a Sabbath fanatic. Black Sabbath is arguably the very first heavy metal band. To have a record of their final show to relive over and over again is such a cool thing. If I have a complaint to make, it's that Bill Ward wasn't part of the tour. Tommy Clufetos does a great job, but the sound isn't quite the same. That said, this is still great.
