A Tribute To Les Paul: Live From Universal Studios Hollywood DVD

Review by Gary Hill

Come for the performances, stay for the documentary type stuff. A big chunk of this is all about some incredible live performances with musicians ranging from Joe Satriani to Buddy Guy to Slash, Neal Schon and Steve Lukather and more. The thing is, there are little interview clips that serve more as a documentary, along with archival footage of Les Paul himself and more.  This is really a great tribute to an amazing man. Les Paul was an influential musician, but perhaps even more importantly he was an inventor. From inventing the electric guitar to reverb, multi-track recording and more, Les Paul really changed the guitar playing field forever. It's easy to believe that without him there would have never been any rock music at all. So, these performances really are a fitting tribute. I heartily recommend this video to anyone who likes guitar music. You really need to check it out and give Les Paul his well-earned respect.
