The Survival Code

Broken Strings

Review by Gary Hill

The three songs here are high energy alternative rock. There isn't a huge amount of variety, but when it's just three songs, it doesn't really need a lot of variety. Besides, every cut here is quite strong.

Track by Track Review
One

This pounds in feeling a bit like Motorhead to me. It has more of a modern texture as it works out from there. There is a  killer instrumental section later in the track that's very much pure modern alternative rock.

Broken Strings
A driving cut, this is perhaps closer to a nu-metal kind of sound. Sure, it's still alternative rock, but there is definitely a shared space there. This is a fiery number with a lot of energy.
Lost Cause
This is no big surprise. It's another hard-edged, high energy alternative rocker. The thing is, I'd say this is the best cut here. They just turn it heavier and deliver it with a fiercer kind of passion. This is a real powerhouse. I love the bass playing on this thing, too.
