Soul Trip (digital single)

Review by Gary Hill

I've reviewed another single from this artist in this issue of Music Street Journal. I put that one under progressive rock because I felt that it qualified as "art music." This one, though, is more of a mainstream tune, so it fits under non-prog. The thing is, I prefer that tune, but this is very good, too.

This review is available in book (paperback and hardcover) form in Music Street Journal: 2020  Volume 5. More information and purchase links can be found at: garyhillauthor.com/Music-Street-Journal-2020.

Soul Trip
I like the multiple layers of vocals on this. The cut has a lot of synthetic sound in the musical arrangement. It has a real EDM meets soul vibe - with the soul end of that equation dominating. This is an effective pop song.
