Progressive Rock CD Reviews

Windows (digital single)

Review by Gary Hill

I reviewed another single from this act last issue. That one did not fit under progressive rock, but this one clearly does. I really like this song a lot. I'd consider it to be one of the stronger singles I've reviewed this year. I should note that the spelling (and capitalization) on the artist name is a stylistic choice by the artist and not a mistake.

This review is available in book (paperback and hardcover) form in Music Street Journal: 2020  Volume 6. More information and purchase links can be found at: garyhillauthor.com/Music-Street-Journal-2020.

Quirky, bouncy and so classy, this has some great shifts and changes. The vocals bring a bit of a DIY alternative vibe. The music is full on progressive rock. There is a soaring, powerhouse movement later. I dig the organ sound on this, but everything about this tune works so well. There are even some space rock things at play at points. This earns a parental advisory, but there is a clean edited version of the song, too.
