Hadley Kennary Crooked Roots Review by Gary Hill This release is solid and entertaining. An EP, it's under twenty-minutes long. Stylistically it's nothing all that unique, landing in the sort of singer-songwriter, female pop rock vein. It's well done, though. There are some highlights, but nothing that is really weak. Track by Track Review

Orbit With a short rise up, this becomes an energized mainstream rock tune. It has plenty of pop music in the mix. It's catchy and very solid. While this isn't the most original thing I've heard, it works quite well.

Crooked Roots A mellower tune, this still lands in sort of the same general zone. It's another effective piece of music.

Possession of Pain On the one hand, I think some of the textures and hooks on this song work better than anything on the two tracks that precede it. The percussion sound seems very processed, though, and takes a little something from this. That said, this is still a highlight of the disc. It just works really well without changing any kind of paradigm.

Everything Hurts Now, this is just plain sublime. Arguably it has the best vocal performance of the set. The music has a jazzy kind of groove to it and a lot of style.

Love Like That More of a soaring sort of contemporary pop song, this works well, but it's not really a standout.
