Xiomara Torres La Voz Del Mar Review by Gary Hill With healthy helpings of Latin music, jazz and more, this is an entertaining set that works reasonably well from start to finish. Xiomara Torres is a Colombian artist, and she has a great voice. She is surrounded here by a lot of solid musicians. While some things work better than others for me, it a varied and entertaining ride from start to finish. Track by Track Review

Me Quedo Contigo There is a killer Latin jazz groove at the heart of this track. The vocals are silky and smooth. This is all class.

Tarde Lo Conoci If anything, they up the ante here. This has plenty of world music in the mix. It's a lot of fun. It has great energy and a playful vibe.

Como Una Hoguera More of a dramatic magic is on the menu here. The backing vocals are very authentic.

Tio With an island percussion arrangement, this has some rather tribal angles to the vocals. It's a different kind of cut. It's not as effective for me, but your mileage may vary.

Justicia Gentle and intricate instrumental textures bring this balladic number into being. It's beautiful and evocative and so strong. This might be my favorite song here. It gets a little more powered up as it continues, but it remains ballad-based from start to finish.

Let It Be Yes, this is a cover of the Beatles song. It's got a great Latin jazz energy and groove to it. This the only song with lyrics in English. I like this one a lot. It's definitely another standout. The vibes and horns really bring so much magic to this.

La Puerta A slow moving, balladic cut, this is a pretty song. While it's not as strong as "Justicia," I like it a lot. The vibes and piano both really shine here.

Te Habla Mi Alma Some great Spanish guitar starts this. The cut works out to another classy Latin jazz groove from there.

Filomena This has a definite Island angle to it. It's so much fun. The mix of sounds isn't that much different than that on "Tio," but somehow this track just works better for me.
