This collection from Mike Thomas features some well-crafted and performed music. Nothing here is all that unique. But, it’s done so well, that it isn’t an issue. The music ranges from more pure country to stuff like John Mellencamp’s more rocking side. If you like that kind of sound, you will probably love this. It’s very well done.

Track by Track Review
Room on the Dance Floor
Acoustic guitar based country music is on the table here. It gets more powered up after the first verse. This is very traditional, and also very effective.
In Your Arms Again
With some wailing harmonica, this is more of a rock and roller. It has some blues and country in the mix, but it’s a rock tune for certain. It’s also another winner.
Before We Say Goodnight
Here we get a ballad. This is perhaps closer to soft rock than pure country. It lands in the territory of bands like The Eagles and Poco. It gets a bit more powered up further down the road.
Breaking The Distance
This rocker makes me think of John Mellencamp. That’s a good thing as far as I’m concerned. It’s dramatic and powerful country leaning rock music. It’s also one of the highlights of the disc.
When The House is Flush
This is definitely another balladic tune. It is basically closer to a modern country tune than to anything else. It’s a solid number with some good instrumental work and hooks.
Tryin' Ain't Enough
A country rocker, this isn’t unexpected, but is very effective.
Bricks, Boards & Stone
More pure country, this seems to be packed with emotion. It’s another strong tune.
Diamonds
Not a big change, this is another slow country song. I’m not sure if I’d call it a ballad, but it’s close.
Daddy's Blue Collar
I love the fiddle playing on this track. It is an energetic country tune with plenty of bluegrass in the mix. It’s a highlight of the set.
Out Back
Another pure country tune, this is effective, but I think the previous song might have made a better closer.
