Johnny Bush - In My World Alone
Downhome country music is the idea here. I really love some of the instrumental work here. It leans toward bluegrass in the jamming. |
Johnny Watson - Come To The Party
Blues and vintage rock and roll merge on this romp. It’s a retro styled thing that’s so much fun. |
Link Davis - Bon-Ra-Ru-La
Here we get a fun rock and roll romp with some jazz and hints of Cajun culture. It's an entertaining one. |
Adrian Roland - Imitation Of Love
Downhome country music is on the menu here. |
Jerry Jericho - When I'm Gone
Bouncy rockabilly is in place on this track. It’s a classy cut that’s a lot of fun. |
Kenny Everett & The Texas Showboys - What Is It
This is more of a country crooner tune. It doesn’t really work that well for me, but it has its charms. |
Bobby Clanton & The Citations - Beat Back Baby
Moro rocking, this is a fun rock and roller. |
Earl Aycock - The Love That Thrills
A mellower country romp, this has a bit of a crooner angle to it. |
Larry Butler - Walked Out
More rockabilly is in the driver’s seat here. This is a fun romp that works really well. The instrumental section is all class. |
Adrian Roland - Mr. Bass Fiddle
As you might guess, the instrumental arrangement here is pretty much all double bass. This has a downhome, stripped back vibe to it. It’s real downhome. It doesn’t really do all that much for me, though. |
Daniel James - Rock Moon Rock
This energized rock and roller is a lot of fun. |
Tommy Graham - I Love My Baby
Rock and roll, country and contemporary pop merge on this number. It’s not really a highlight, but it holds its own. |
Red Mansel & His Hillbilly Boys - Johnny On The Spot
Here we get another bouncy rockabilly styled piece. This is a strong tune that’s among the highlights here. |
Wiley Barkdull - When You Go
I dig the country based sound on this so much. The guitar is great, and the whole tune just has a classy groove to it. It’s another standout. |
Johnny Huskey & The King Bee's - Red Dress
Old school rock and roll is on the menu here. This is a powerhouse jam that has some great guitar work. It’s another standout tune. |
Tommy Trent - A Mile To The Mailbox
Downhome, stripped back country dominated music is the order of business here. This one isn’t really a highlight, but it’s not bad. |
Jerry Matthews - My Little Baby
Bouncy rock and roll, this is a fun romp. The saxophone is a great touch, but the whole tune just works. It’s another standout. |
Larry Butler - Foolish Affair
This feels like something Johnny Cash might have done, but the vocals aren’t as low-pitched as that would suggest. I’m not completely enamored with this one, but it has its charms. |
Johnny Bush - Your Kind Of Love
Bouncy and energetic, I really dig the guitar solo on this track. The overall vibe is country meets rock and roll. This one’s not a slam-dunk for me, but that guitar work definitely elevates it. |
Red Mansel - My Only One
The guitar on this rockabilly number is a real selling point of the track. |
Tommy Hammond & The Rockin' Rebels - Let's Forget We Ever Met
Another energized rockabilly tune, this is solid, but not a standout for me. I do like the guitar work, though. |
Ray Mitcham - Out Yonder
More bouncy rock and roll is on the menu here. I like the energy and groove, but it’s not a highlight. |
Barney Vardeman - It's Never Too Late
Downhome country and bluegrass merge on this tune. |
Lawton Williams - Mama Doll
Very clear country concepts are in charge here. I like the piano on this quite a bit, but the song as a whole doesn’t do a lot for me. |
Daniel James - I'm Gonna Move
The instrumental arrangement on this has some exceptional jamming built into it. I’m not completely sold on the countrified vocals, but that music really makes this a standout. |
Ray Frushay - Hijackin'
This rockabilly nut has some cool guitar riffing, but beyond that it doesn’t gel that well for me. |
Jerry Jericho - What Right Have I
More of a country meets contemporary pop tune, this has some good hooks. |
Tommy Trent - Just For Tonight
Here we get more bouncy rockabilly. I really dig the piano on this track. |
Link Davis - Ballad Of Jole Blonde
This groove works pretty well. It's not a highlight, but it holds its own. |
Prince Arky & His Westerners - Ten Horned Devel
This has a bit of a spooky novelty vibe to it. It also has a lot of cool rockabilly in the mix. This is so much fun. In fact, I’d consider it a highlight of the set. I should note that the spelling of the title is not a typo, that’s how it’s listed on the cover. |
Adrian Roland - Now I Know
More downhome in nature, this is slow moving and real country based. |
Rocky Williams - Rock Cinderella
This rock and roller is so much fun. I dig the guitar, saxophone and pretty much everything about it. |
Eddie Noack - Too Hot Too Handle
Downhome country and bluegrass mix on this romp. |
Wiley Barkdull - Tiger By The Tail
The guitar is absolutely on fire on this instrumental rock and roller. This is without question my favorite track on the whole disc. |
Larry Butler - Echoes Fade And Die
Real downhome country vibes are on the menu here. This song isn’t bed, but I think the previous number would have been a better way to end things. |
