Tank

War Machine Live DVD

Review by Larry Toering

To get the awesomeness that is Tank, one definitely has to look back a long way and compare Tank of old, to that of the new. For the version with vocalist Doogie White is not the same band by anymore means than the name. White needs no introduction by now, as he constantly strides for world domination with more acts balanced than any singer of which I can think these days. There, I said it, but don’t shoot the messenger, because that can be read from White’s own words in an interview I did with him here at MSJ some months back. So, they all admit to this factor, but they do not disgrace the old songs, and certainly do not disgrace the namesake now. This is absolutely a bone crushing release. If you like your metal as hard as it comes, there is not one moment where you won’t be punching the air with excitement. The DVD features twelve of their best tracks, along with a clip of “War Nation,” an interview, as well as tour footage including “Live At Metal Hammer Festival” 2011. There are also some extras in the shape of a photo gallery, bio, discography and desktop images to round it out. But the film crew really must be credited here because it is extremely modern and well done. If you took away the bells and whistles, though, this would still be a top notch product. I’ve seen a lot of concert videos but I’ve never seen one quite as beautifully done for such a hard rock outfit. It really is a sight to see and comes highly recommended by this reviewer. Metal Mind is on a roll and taking no prisoners as they continue to shell out the goods. This is one of their best releases of 2012. Buy two, because you just might wear the first one out!
