Plum

Light Years, Dark Years

Review by Gary Hill

This EP features some great psychedelic rock. While there are leanings toward modern sounds like heavy metal and stoner rock, this really feels vintage. It wouldn’t be a stretch of the imagination to think that this was some long lost psychedelic album from decades ago. It’s great stuff.

Track by Track Review
Light Years, Dark Years

Pounding in, this thing is almost heavy metal in a lot of ways. Still, this is killer psychedelic rock. It feels like something that could have come out of the late 1960s. The vocals have a distorted and rather distant feel to them. The cut is a soaring, screaming, kind of fuzz laden hard rock.

Cosmic Vice
This is more of a melodic psychedelic rocker. It’s actually quite dreamy, trippy and progressive rock like. It’s another great piece of music. There are definitely elements of space rock in this one. It does rock out more as it continues, too.
Drip
A hard rocking psychedelic tune, there is a familiar air to this. It very much has the garage band type of psychedelic sound. It reminds me a little of the Doors in some ways, too.
Love is in the Air
More of a straight hard rocking tune, this still has some psychedelia in the mix. It’s definitely retro textured.
Hypnagaga
This is built on a killer mid-tempo hard rocking song structure. It’s another great slab of retro sounding psychedelia. It works out to a soaring jam later in the track that even feels a bit proggy.
