Josh Birdsong

Simple Geometry

Review by Gary Hill
I suppose the easiest definition of this is alternative rock meets pop music. There is a decent range of sound within this. It's a pleasant set that never wears out its welcome or feels tired.

Track by Track Review
Unspeakable

Alternative rock and modern pop merge on this energetic and effective piece. There is a soaring kind of energy to this. There are even some hints of fusion on some of the guitar sounds, too.

Radio Waves
This is mellower and quite spacey. It' has a real trippy, dreamy kind of vibe. As good as the opener was, I like this even better.
Drive
There is kind of a soulful element to this. It still has the same modern alternative vibe, but it's also more grounded in an older mainstream musical sound. This has a cool sound for certain.
Why?
I really dig the guitar sounds on this. The song has hints of Americana. Yet it's still sent in the same sort of general motif. This is an energetic song with a great flow to it. The jam later in the piece gets pretty intesnse and rather space rock like.
You And I
This is a tasty little groove. It's not a big change, but it's a bit more folk music oriented. It's classy for sure.
